Ever have one of those days…?
The Blue Skeleton - a large scale watercolour going into a new online exhibiting platform for artists being launched by a Kiwi. Fore more info about the platform itself visit https://www.thebigidea.nz/stories/the-exhibit-taking-the-exhibition-experience-online
I will be posting more information about my own exhibit and the works featuring closer to the launch date at the end of August 2018.
The Christmas Wish Otter - what did you most wish for this Christmas, did the Otter deliver it to your house? Personal work - Rebelle.
Bella and Buster - two gorgeous puppies commissioned by a lady here in New Zealand.
The utterly gorgeous Lulu - one of the first 100 day projects pups. She was rescued by a kind family with a big place outside Christchurch and she now lives happily with them there and is much loved. Painted digitally in Rebelle.
See the whole 100 Days Project HERE.
Watercolour portrait of Abbey, the collie. I undertake commissions and - where possible - love to meet my subjects, if that's not possible I work from photos. I work in watercolour, oils and digitally.
I love animals - especially dogs. Our company, Chocolate Dog Studio, is named after our very naughty and wonderful Choccy Lab, Monty who is no longer with us. And recently we have lost napoleon who is in this picture. Painted digitally in Rebelle.
Along Higgs Road, the sheep in the field directly by the road often cluster under the low natives that form the fence line - they like to keep out of the hot sun and shelter from the rain. I painted this in Procreate on iPad Pro.
I love the “Dr Seuss” trees that wind their way out of the rocky limestone of the Abel Tasman.
Love love love otters but there aren’t any here in New Zealand, not in the wild anyway. This little fella is painted in Procreate on the iPad.
An illuminated capital probably took a scribe hours, sending a text takes a fraction of the time.
Jack was an identity around Mapua and on the beach at Ruby Bay. He was rescued as a young dog from living wild behind Tarras down South by his owner, Richard, and remained devoted only to Richard for the rest of his life. As a Huntaway he was determined to 'herd' you if you stopped to chat with Richard - which took a bit of getting used to. And he didn't like the camera either... at all... I painted this for Richard when Jack was still alive.
Just playing with a rough sketch looking at the light
My dog, Napoleon, wasn’t really dressed up in bunny ears - he would never have put up with that, far too undignified - but it was fun imagining him.
Illustrated name for a new arrival in Parma, Italy. I was asked to include a ginger cat, panda and a bear.
Jazz is author, Jerri J Pirc's dog and used to help the children with their reading on visits to the local libraries and kindies.
South Bay - before the eathquake. Jade waves against the rocks.
PERSONAL WORK - I am a little obsessed with otters... this one looks a little crazy, and also a bit too weasel-y but fun to do nonetheless.
A large scale (1.25m long) watercolour of a fish skeleton.
PERSONAL WORK - I love the old wharf at Mapua with its ageing pilings and mooring posts. The water - when it is sunny - is a glorious jadey-blue. Painted digitally in Rebelle.
Commissioned watercolour for a friend who was visiting Australian mates and wanted to give them a special present - they were mad about Kookaburras
When you head down to Cornwall to the new Year's eve celebrations make sure you check that it really is fancy dress!... Digital painting in Rebelle.
For a friend who is a photographer and was about to start his own business. The drawing refers to Nicéphore Niépce, the Frenchman credited with the invention of photography. Thought to be the first person ever to make a photographic image so here his is with the very first selfie stick.
A commissioned dog portrait of two little herberts. One had a very near miss recently when what was thought to be cancer turned out to be a badly infected tooth so I am very glad to say that Amber at the front and Gina at the back are very much alive and well - and giving their mistresses the proverbial runaround.
PERSONAL WORK - wine themed artwork as an original watercolour. We live in a region producing great wines (Hallelujah!) and Mapua is famous for its wharf where the kids (and grown-ups) take brave leaps off into the sea.
Another gorgeous 100 Days Project pup just willing you to give him a new forever home. See the whole project HERE.
Traditional watercolour illustrations for a children's book by local author, Jerri J Pirc.
100 Days Project. I painted a dog every single day for 100 consecutive days for the 100 Days Project. They were all rescue dogs and I wanted to promote them and help them find new forever homes.
