Book Illustrations
Jane Smith Illustration - illustartions for children’s books
Dog-Eared Notes | Book Project
Over the last 20 years, every time my husband took a packed lunch to work, I put a cartoon in for him to find. Usually they were inspired by something our two dogs - Monty the Choccy Lab and Napoleon the Goldie - had been up to, occasionally the cat Soufflée put in an appearance. Over the years we have amassed folders full of them, all on scraps of paper. I decide it would be a good project to re-visit them and put some of them together in a book.
The Princess and The Pirate
By day Primrose is the perfect princess - doing her lessons, riding her tubby pony Jim and being the apple of her parents’ eyes BUT… by night, she fights crime and battles our villain, Pete The Pirate, who wants to steal the crown jewels. Written by Charlie Holt and published here in New Zealand by One Tree House. EMAIL ME for a copy.

COMMENT FROM CHARLIE HOLT, AUTHOR:
“Jane is a wonderfully talented illustrator. It was a delight to see her take the manuscript of ‘The Princess and the Pirate’, and from it create illustrations filled with humour, fun and detailed beauty. She injected a playfulness and personality into the expressions and actions of the characters that truly brought them to life. I hope to have the chance to collaborate with her in the future.”
